Hang-on filters need minimal maintenance. You will want to replace your filter media cartridges about once every three to four weeks. This will ensure that your filter is continuously flowing with clean water and keeping all of your levels where they need to be. After having your filter for a longer period of time you may want to do a deep clean of it. Over time algae will build up in your filter and it could slow your flow or even block it. If your tank has a bio-wheel It should never be cleaned or become dry because that can cause the good bacteria on it to die.

Setting up your hang-on back filter is simple.
